In the heart of the historic Galle Fort, Mango House was re-opened in 2013 after a major renovation by new owners, Hugh & Sofie, and the result is a bright and airy 200 year old Dutch colonial-style villa that successfully mixes old colonial elegance with a hip, contemporary Asian feel.

Set in a beautiful garden of mango trees and palms with day beds & hammocks, Mango House is a stylish 7 room boutique hotel offering a peaceful haven for guests within easy walking distance of all Galle Fort’s historic sites, restaurants and shops.

From hand-made terracotta floor tiles and bespoke furniture to exclusive pattern designs and a carefully crafted lighting scheme, guests at Mango House enjoy a unique experience, bridging the best of colonial-era architecture with funky, modern twists.

On the ground floor of the villa are 2 courtyard rooms with a colonial decor that open onto a private Mediterranean-style courtyard and on the second floor you have the remaining guests rooms which include 3 private balcony rooms with views over Galle’s antique rooftops and gardens, a oriental room decorated in a modern Asian fusion with original artwork and finally a family room with a cool mezzanine level which is perfect for the children. All rooms have four poster beds and en suite bathrooms with rainforest showers.

With such a great selection of restaurants in Galle, Mango House does not serve lunch or dinner but the breakfasts are not to be missed with fresh juices, delicious coffee, fruit salad and a choice of full english or continental breakfast. After a day of sightseeing if you want to spend your evening within the funky confines of Mango House the team can arrange to order in some pretty special savoury crepes which you can either enjoy in the garden or the comfort of your room!
