DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Lusaka
Fly overnight from the UK to Lusaka

Day 2: Lusaka
On arrival you will be transferred to the Lilayi Lodge to spend 1 night, hosting a nursery for baby elephants, and offering incredible views – staying at the Lilayi will be an unforgettable experience. Enjoy your afternoon relaxing at the lodge or alternatively you may feel up for one of the afternoon optional activities – these include 4×4 game drives on the reserve, bush walks and horse-riding safaris

Day 3: Lusaka to Lower Zambezi National Park
This morning you will be taken back to Lusaka Airport to check-in for your flight to the Lower Zambezi National Park. On arrival you will be transferred to the Royal Zambezi Lodge to spend 4 nights, offering incredible views of the scenic mountain backdrop from its place on the bank of the Zambezi River, the Royal Lodge is definitely the place to be. Head out this afternoon on your first safari!

Days 4 to 6: Lower Zambezi National Park
Three full days to enjoy one of our favourite parks in Africa! With lots of cats, elephant herds and hippos you can enjoy game drives, walking safaris, boat safaris, fishing and canoe safaris whist you enjoy the stunning views of the Lower Zambezi.

Day 7: Lower Zambezi to Victoria Falls
After a final morning safari, you will be taken back to the Airport to check-in for your flight to Livingstone, on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. On arrival you will be transferred to Chundukwa River Lodge to spend 3 nights, this owner-run lodge offers an authentic, Zambian inspired experience with each room looking over the Zambezi River, a relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Days 8&9: Victoria Falls

Day 10: Livingstone to Johannesburg
This morning you will be taken back to Livingstone Airport to check-in for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival you will be transferred to The African Rock Hotel where you will spend 1 night, designed to be both roomy and practical, this locally-owned hotel is full of culture – filled with one-of-a-kind furniture pieces designed by the owner!

Day 11: Johannesburg to Mozambique Coast
Today you will be taken back to Johannesburg Airport to catch your flight to Vilanculos. On arrival you will be transferred to the Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel to spend 6 nights, located where the azure waters of the Indian Ocean touch the palm fringed beaches of Vilanculos. The ultimate destination for experiencing colourful local culture and the beauty of the Bazaruto Archipelago.

Days 12 to 16: Vilanculos
Five full days to explore Vilanculos, relax by the pool or get stuck into some great activities. There are opportunities to go kite-surfing, snorkelling, diving, horse riding and even to head out on a sunset cruise. Want some more ideas of what to do? Day 17: Vilanculos to London

Flatdogs: Game sightings were very good, too, although we had just one brief lion sighting in 3 full days (4 nights). We got very good compensation in the form of several leopard sightings (6 leopards on the best night drive!), as well as other animals. The safari tents in Flatdogs were very good, too, and the Treehouse was gorgeous. Food was also very good and the staff very friendly. Guides were very knowledgeable and experienced.
