Day 1: UK to Colombo
Fly overnight from the UK to Colombo.
Day 2: Colombo to Kigalle
On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred in your private vehicle 2 hours east to spend 3 nights at the Rosyth Estate, a family owned tea and rubber estate with a beautifully refurbished 7 bedroom planters bungalow set on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding plantations. Spend the afternoon exploring the estate or relaxing by the pool. Remember, this is just a starting point idea to give you a flavour of what we can do. Days 3: Kigalle
Today you have a full day at leisure to enjoy the great selection of activities on offer at Rosyth – we definitely recommend a tour of the tea factory and a walk to the local village and temple.
Day 4: Kandy
Today you will drive 1hr to the scenic city of Kandy, heading to the UNESCO Temple of the Tooth and Royal Palace where you will enjoy a guided tour and walk by Kandy Lake. You will then return to Rosyth to relax and perhaps enjoy a cooking class.
Day 5: Kigalle to Cultural Triangle
Today you will head north into the Cultural Triangle region of the country to explore the incredible Dambulla Cave Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest temple cave complex in Sri Lanka. You will then continue towards Sigiriya to spend 3 nights at Vil Uyana, a beautiful eco hotel with a selection of luxurious “dwellings” spread out amongst its own nature reserve with views of Sigiriya Rock – we particularly love the stylish sundowner lounge and tucking into a delicious Sri Lankan curry on the deck of your private dwelling!
Day 6: Cultural Triangle
This morning you will head to the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa to enjoy a guided cycling tour. This UNESCO World Heritage site was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 and contains some incredible well-preserved stupas, temples and Buddha statues. You will then return to Vil Uyana for a well-earned relax by the pool and sunset cocktails over the lagoon.
Day 7: Cultural Triangle
This morning you will be collected by your guide and driven to the iconic Rock Fortress of Sigiriya to enjoy a guided tour of this fascinating UNESCO complex and a hike to the top to enjoy the stunning scenery. You will then return to Vil Uyana to relax.
Day 8: Cultural Triangle to Negombo
After a morning at Vil Uyana you will drive back towards Colombo Airport to spend 1 night at the Wallawwa, a stunning boutique retreat which is a fantastic last stop in Sri Lanka with its beautiful grounds, relaxed atmosphere, lovely little spa and excellent Asian-fusion cuisine.
Day 9: Colombo to the Maldives
This morning you will be transferred back to Colombo Airport for your short flight to the Maldives.
On arrival you will be met and assisted onto your boat transfer to the South Male Atoll where you will end with 7 nights in Deluxe Bungalow at Velassaru Island, a Maldivian owned hotel and member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” it has beautiful beaches, a romantic atmosphere and chic design. “Early Booking” Special. Day 10 to 15: Velassaru Island (South Male Atoll)
Six full days to relax in paradise! The island has a great spa, a dive centre and can arrange a variety of activities including SUP boarding, kite-surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking and romantic sunset cruises.
Day 16: Male to UK
This morning you will be transferred by speedboat back to Male Airport for your flight back to the UK (via Colombo).
