Day 1: UK to Ho Chi Minh City
Fly overnight from the UK to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City
Once you have landed you will be taken into the heart of the city ready to check-in to the stunning, centrally located Silverland Yen where you will stay for your first 3 nights. Ease into Vietnam with an afternoon relaxing in the hotel’s rooftop jacuzzi while taking in the stunning views overlooking the city of Saigon. Welcome to Vietnam!
Days 3: Ho Chi Minh City
After a relaxing start, make sure to fill up on breakfast this morning ready for a full private day tour exploring Ho Chi Minh City. Start your day transferring just over an hour outside of the city, to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels where you will learn about the fascinating history of Vietnam. Our knowledgeable local guide will give you a clear understanding of the not so distant history that surrounds this local area. See the measures the Vietnamese went to by travelling down the many tunnels (if you’re brave enough!). You will then be taken back into the city where you will be guided around some of the most monumental sites of Ho Chi Minh City, including the Opera House, City Hall and the Grand Former Palace. Talk to us if you fancy spending your evening checking out a popular Saigon night market!
Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City
A free day to explore in your own time. As the sun starts to set you will be picked up for another private tour, this time by one of our local food experts, to show you the taste of true Saigon. Taste typical southern cuisine such as Goi Cuon (Vietnamese spring rolls), Banh Xeo (crispy pancakes) and Hu Tieu (Rice noodles) as well as many more. The only problem will be trying to fit them all in!
Day 5 & 6: Mekong Delta
After a quick transfer from Ho Chi Minh City you will be taken deep into the winding water network of the Delta where you will be staying for 2 nights at The Island Lodge on its own secluded island in the Mekong. Soak up the life of the river, relax and watch the world go by, take a tour to a local coconut farm or cross the river to My Tho taking a bike and exploring rural Vietnam life at your own pace. If you would rather stay on the river, then why not find out about the many River Cruise options we have available for you.
Day 7: Phnom Penh
After breakfast you will be transferred to Ho Chi Minh City’s airport for your short flight into Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh where you will be spending 2 nights at the Amanjaya Pancam Hotel. Majestically located at the confluence of the mighty rivers of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap, this hotel is the perfect base to take in the beautiful surroundings. In the evening you will be collected by your personal Vespa driver for a Phnom Penh private night tour. Time to sample Cambodian cuisine, delicious cocktails, local beer and the unique nightlife that the capital has on offer. The perfect welcome to Cambodia!
Day 8: Phnom Penh
Today you will take a private full guided tour to national museum, royal palace and the sobering Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Housed in a former school, it was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as a torture centre named ‘S-21’. You will then visit the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. A moving, but important visit that allows you to understand Cambodia better. Later you will board a boat for a river cruise, and as the sun disappears for the day you will see the riverfront awaken and come to life right in front of you as you sit back and enjoy Cambodia all around you.
Day 9: Siem Reap
This morning you’ll leave the capital behind as you travel through Cambodian countryside and small local villages. Stopping along the way at Skun Market to try some of the local delicacies you will continue to Sambor Prei, Cambodia’s UNESCO heritage site to enjoy a walk through the endless jungles revealing breath-taking views of over 100 well preserved temples. From here you will continue to a local village where a freshly prepared lunch awaits you. Dine outdoors within this local community and chat to the villagers about their everyday lives – they love meeting tourists and enjoy talking about the positive impact tourism has had on their community. After a busy day continue your way into the iconic Siem Reap, where you will stay for 3 nights at Riversoul Residence, a lovely boutique hotel known for its urban oasis, located just a short walk from the bustling markets.
Day 10: Siem Reap
A full day of fascinating and monumental sightseeing awaits you this morning. Siem Reap is most famous for the iconic Angkor Wat. There are also many other equally stunning temples including the Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm. With a private guide and vehicle at your disposal, you have all day to learn about the sites and the history that comes with them. In the early evening, you will be met by one of our local food experts and taken off the usual tourist trail straight into foodie heaven uncovering hidden treasures and areas favoured by locals including a visit to street 60 for dinner – Cambodian style. Most commonly visited by locals because of the beautiful view of the sunset it offers each night. Grab a mat and something to eat from one of the endless street food sellers, sit back and enjoy.
Day 11: Siem Reap
For your last full day there is no time to waste as you are picked up by Vespa for your private adventure of Siem Reap’s stunning countryside and local villages. Begin with riding through the vast deep green Angkor forest as you head out to the stunning beauty of Baray Lake. While here a monk will perform a special ceremony, blessing you with good luck. Back on land you will have time to enjoy a relaxing picnic and watch the world go by. In the evening, attend a performance of the outstanding Phare Cambodian Circus, followed by a dinner at the Phare restaurant. Later in the evening meet the cast of the circus and learn about how being in the production has changed their lives.
Day 12: Siem Reap / UK
After a busy 10 days, enjoy your last full day in Cambodia at leisure, maybe visit some of the nearby markets or just have a relaxing dip in the pool and catch some sun before you are transferred to the airport for your overnight flight back home. If you don’t want to go home just yet, then why not carry on to Thailand, talk to us and we will create the perfect trip that’s just right for you.
