Enquire Now!A thrilling journey into the remote wilderness of Rajasthan, this 15 night private tour starts with the iconic sights of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur before heading though the Shekhawati Region, the gateway to the Thar Desert, to explore the undiscovered havelis of Churu, marvel at the Temple of Rats near the desert town of Bikaner and meet the fascinating Bishnois community on guided desert safaris.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: UK to Delhi
Fly overnight from the UK to Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi
On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred in your private vehicle to the south of Delhi where you will spend 2 nights at Thikana, an owner run gem with first class hospitality, a quiet location and cosy home away from home atmosphere.
Days 3: Delhi
This morning you will be collected by your driver and a specialist Delhi guide for your private tour of New and Old Delhi, including the Jama Masjid (one of the largest mosques in India), a rickshaw ride through the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk and the impressive Humayun’s Tomb. Day 4: Delhi to Agra
Bidding farewell to the capital you will be driven south to Agra to spend 1 night at the friendly Coral Tree, an owner run guesthouse with lovely hosts and a great location only a few minutes from the Taj. This afternoon with your driver and a local specialist Agra guide you will visit Agra Fort, a 16th century Mughal fortress with stunning views across the Yamuna River to the Taj Mahal. You will then head into one of the most iconic monuments in the world, the Taj Mahal, to enjoy sunset.
Day 5: Agra to Jaipur
Today you will drive to the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri before continuing to Jaipur, the Pink City and capital of Rajasthan to spend 2 nights at Dera Mandawa, a converted Haveli with 9 beautiful suites offering wonderful Rajasthani hospitality from the owner, Thakur Durga Singh.
Day 6: Jaipur
This morning you will be collected by your driver and a specialist Jaipur guide for your private tour of Jaipur, including the City Palace, the fascinating observatory Jantar Mantar, the Hawa Mahal and one of the finest forts in Rajasthan, Amber Fort. There are plenty of wonderful sights in Jaipur. Talk to us about the different options.
Day 7: Jaipur to Churu
Heading north into the Shekhawati Region you will drive to Churu to continue your adventure with 2 nights at Malji Ka Kamra, a beautifully restored Haveli and as unique as they come this is a great owner-run heritage property.
Day 8: Churu
This morning with a local specialist guide you will explore the markets and incredible Havelis with their intricate fresco paintings, on a walking tour of this fascinating 450 year old town. This evening you will head to Johra reservoir to enjoy Sundowners – a great spot!
Day 9: Churu to Bikaner
Continuing into the Thar Desert your next stop is the medieval desert town of Bikaner where you will enjoy a guided tour of the impressive Junagarh Fort, containing several palaces, pavilions and Hindu & Jain temples. You will then continue to spend 1 night at the Gajner Palace, another unique heritage property, this grand former hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Bikaner is stooped in history and has a wonderful setting on Gajner Lake.
Day 10: Bikaner to Jamba
Today you will head deep in the remote Thar Desert, heading to the village of Jamba where you will spend 3 nights at the Dera Dune Retreat, a remote desert hideaway built on top of a sand huge dune with wonderful views of the Thar Desert.
Day 11 & 12: Jamba
Two full days at Jamba. Offering one of the best cultural experiences in Rajasthan, activities include desert safaris to meet the Bishnois and their camels, village walks and safaris to the Kheechan Bird Sanctuary.
Day 13: Jamba to Jodhpur
Leaving behind the villages of the Thar Desert you will drive south to the shimmering Blue City of Jodhpur to spend 2 nights at the Ratan Vilas, a charming 1920s heritage mansion owned by the grandson & great grandson of Maharaj Ratan Singhji.
Day 14: Jodhpur
This morning you will be collected by your driver and a specialist Jodhpur guide for your private tour of Jodhpur, including a walking tour of the Clock Tower market, the Jaswant Thada cenotaph and one of the finest forts in India, Mehrangarh Fort. Day 15: Jodhpur to Delhi
This morning you will be transferred to Jodhpur Airport for your flight back to Delhi. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Novotel for an afternoon of leisure, or perhaps some last-minute shopping before a comfortable sleep for your final night in India.
Day 16: Delhi to UK
You will be transferred to Delhi International Airport for your flight to the UK.
