DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to Kota Kinabalu
Fly from London to Kota Kinabalu, via Kuala Lumpur.

Day 2: Kota Kinabalu
On arrival into Kota Kinabalu, you will be transferred the Shangri-La Rasa Ria where you will be spending your first 3 nights. A family-friendly beach resort nestled between abundant tropical rainforest and sparkling waters of the South China Sea. 

Days 3-4: Kota Kinabalu
Two full days to spend at leisure in Kota Kinabalu, time to start your holiday with some beach & pool relaxation! The hotel offers so great activities to keep everyone busy – hire a kayak or paddle board, join a cooking class, head out on a bike tour and more! Day 5: Kota Kinabalu to Sepilok
Today you will be transferred back to Kota Kinabalu Airport to check in for your short domestic flight to Sandakan. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to MY Nature Resort in Sepilok where you will be staying for 2 nights. Set on the edge of the tropical rainforest, MY Nature’s traditional chalets each have a large terrace overlooking the jungle. There is a good sized pool as well as a 300 metre walkway, where you are free to wander and discover the sights of the jungle. Tonight you will have the option to join a night walk to spot some of the nocturnal wildlife.

Day 6: Sepilok
Today is your to spend at leisure in this fantastic destination. Follow one of the resorts boardwalks through the jungle, head to the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary located at the centre of a mangrove forest with around 300 wild monkeys. Or, take the short walk to the Rainforest Discovery Centre visiting the canopy towers connected by walkways to give you a bird’s-eye view of the rooftops of the trees.

Day 7-8: Sepilok to Kinabatangan
This morning you will visit the world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation centre at Sepilok as well as the Sun Bear Conservation Centre. You will then cruise along Sabah’s mighty Kinabatangan River to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort where you will be staying for 2 nights with all meals included. You will spend the next two days enjoying river safari cruises to track wildlife in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. Want to head deeper into the jungle? Day 9: Kinabatangan to Gaya Island
Today you will be transferred by boat to Sandakan past fishing villages along the coast. On arrival, enjoy lunch before transferring to the Airport to check-in for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu where you will be met and transferred to the jetty for  your boat to  the gorgeous Gaya Island. You will be spending 7 nights at Gaya Island Resort with breakfast included. Set within a marine park with a golden beach and backed by lush rainforest, Gaya Island Resort is the perfect luxurious beach retreat to kick-back after your tour of Borneo. Along with a chance to relax on the beautiful beaches, you will also have the opportunity to join complimentary guided nature walks within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Days 10-15: Gaya Island
Six full days to enjoy this beautiful beach, relax by the pool and enjoy the surrounding area. If you are feeling a bit more active, then why not head out on a rainforest walk, guided snorkelling excursion, cooking classes, mangrove kayak tour and more! With a wealth of coral reefs for diving, indigenous flora and fauna for guided nature walks, and plenty of water sports and an award-winning spa you will have an amazing time.

Day 16: Gaya Island to the UK
After a final day on Gaya Island, you will be transferred by boat & road to the airport for your return flights to the UK.
