incredible 13 night Madagascar adventure is designed for serious nature lovers who want to explore the primary rainforests of Eastern Madagascar searching out an amazing variety of endemic primates, birds, reptiles and plants, whilst really soaking up the pristine environments around you. Highlights will include many lemur species, including the largest Indri Indri, the vibrant red ruffed and elusive Aye Aye, humpback whales, green turtles, the giant Parson’s chameleon, activities galore and one of the most remote wildlife lodges in the whole of Madagascar.
Day 1: London to Antananarivo
Fly this morning from the UK to Antananarivo (via Paris). On arrival into the Madagascar capital this evening you will be met and transferred to Relais des Plateaux to spend 1 night, a very comfortable small hotel and one of the most convenient for the airport.
Day 2: Antananarivo to Andasibe
With your private 4×4 and guide you will drive to the eastern rainforests of Andasibe to spend 3 nights at Vakona Forest Lodge, a firm family run Sundowner favourite with a beautiful location in the forest and its own wildlife packed reserve. This evening enjoy a nocturnal forest walk. Remember, this is just a starting point idea to give you a flavour of what we can do. All our holidays are uniquely designed for each individual client. Contact us on holidays@sundownerholidays.co.uk or 01273 923100 to start designing yours.
Days 3 & 4: Andasibe
Two full days with your local specialist guide to explore the Analamazaotra Reserve, one of the best areas in the country for the largest Indri Indri lemur, the Vakona Reserve, the Mitsinjo Community Reserve and the lush primary rainforest of Mantadia National Park.
You will also visit Lemur Island for a close encounter with these amazing creatures!
Day 5: Andasibe to Antananarivo
After a final morning in the rainforest you will drive back to the capital to spend 1 night at the Pavillon de l’Emyrne. Located in the heart of the old town, close to some nice restaurants this small owner run boutique hotel is a firm sundowner favourite – we particularly love the afternoon complimentary back massages!
Day 6: Antananarivo to Masoala National Park
Returning to the airport this morning you will fly to Maroantsetra where you will be met and transferred by road and boat to one of the most remote wildlife lodges in Madagascar, Masoala Forest Lodge, to spend 7 nights in this pristine environment.
On a stunning beach within a pristine primary rainforest this amazing treehouse eco lodge offers incredible scenery, amazing wildlife and a true sense of adventure. Sitting around the fire on the deserted beaches of Masoala at sundowner time is definitely an unforgettable experience!
Days 7 to 12: Masoala National Park, Indian Ocean
With the perfect mix of forest and ocean and heaps of endemic wildlife there is so much to do and see during your adventure at Masoala. During your stay you will enjoy guided forest walks in search of the red ruffed and elusive Aye Aye lemurs, guided sea kayaking to remote beaches, snorkelling, fishing, birding walks and village excursions.
If you are lucky enough to visit between June and September this is also the breeding ground for Humpback whales! Want less days on the beach? We can tailor this holiday idea to you. Call us on 01273 923100 now!
Day 13: Masoala Forest Lodge to the UK
Today you will transfer back to Maroantsetra for your flight back to Antananarivo. On arrival a day room at Bois Vert will be available (if required) before you will connect with your International flight back to the UK (via Paris).
Day 14: Home
