Located in the north east of the Okavango, in the Khwai Concession, Machaba Camp benefits from an enviable location on the Khwai River, adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. This means access to some of Botswana’s most incredible game viewing regions which can be fully explored with the expert guiding team at Machaba on 4×4 game drives, night drives, walking safaris and mokoro safaris (depending on water levels).

Tucked in a forest of Machaba trees (the local Setswana name for Sycamore Figs), set just back from the Khwai River, this classic 1950s style camp consists of a large double wing guest tent with a cosy reading lounge decked out with sofas, rugs and a great selection of books, a dining area and obligatory campfire and a refreshing swimming pool on the edge of camp with a sun lounger deck – the perfect spot between game activities!

With a classic décor throughout the 10 spacious safari tents have large comfy beds, en-suite bathrooms with indoor & outdoor showers and great views of the river to sit and watch the wildlife around camp. With children of all ages welcome at Machaba Camp, two of the tents are huge family tents which pack a bit of wow factor with 2 bedrooms, a central lounge and shared bathroom.

Producing excellent “bushfare” the chefs at Machaba combine local cuisine and good old fashioned home style cooking for light breakfasts around the campfire, hearty brunches after your morning activity, delicious afternoon teas and wonderful dinners under the stars which can include a bush dinner in the wild!
