Day 1: London to Cape Town
Fly overnight from the UK to Cape Town.
Day 2: Cape Town
On arrival into Cape Town you will collect your hire car and drive through the city to Camps Bat, (enjoying the fantastic views of Table Mountain), to spend 3 nights at Sea Five, an elegant 6 room boutique hotel, wonderfully relaxed in a great location overlooking beautiful Camp’s Bay. Days 3 & 4: Cape Town
Two free days to explore Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. With its central location, the V&A Waterfront, Atlantic beaches and Table Mountain are spitting distance away. We can also arrange some great excursions and activities to show off the culture, history and adventure of the city. See our Cape Town guide.
Day 5: Cape Town to Franschhoek (Winelands)
Leaving the Mother City this morning you will drive 1 hour into the stunning valleys of the Cape Winelands, heading to the village of Franschhoek to spend 2 nights at Holden Manz, a luxury guesthouse and restaurant on an award-winning vineyard set beneath dramatic elephant-shaped mountains and cradled by the Franschhoek and Stoney Brook rivers. Day 6: Franschhoek Valley
Free day to explore this beautiful part of South Africa. You can spend a lazy day sampling the delicious wines and enjoying the numerous award winning restaurants in the village or catch the wine tram and stop-off at different vineyards for tastings all day or if you what something planned we can help with some great ideas – Horse-riding, vineyard hikes, picnics….. we can help you decide.
Day 7: Franschhoek to Oudtshoorn (via Route 62)
Another lovely drive today along Route 62 past the Langeberg Mountains and the Little Karoo to Oudtshoorn. You will spend 2 nights at Rosenhof Country House, a beautifully restored boutique country lodge with classic style and character surrounded by peaceful rose gardens.
Day 8: Oudtshoorn
A full day to enjoy the area around Oudtshoorn. We recommend a meerkat safari, a visit to an ostrich farm as well as a trip out to the Cango Caves.
Day 9: Oudtshoorn to Plettenberg
Driving south to the coast today you will hit the beautiful Garden Route, heading past Wilderness Beach and Knysna to Plettenberg. One of the best spots on the Garden Route you will spend 3 nights at The Plettenberg Hotel , a magnificent mansion with world-class service and breath-taking vistas of the ocean, mountains and endless stretches of golden beach. Days 10-11: Plettenberg
Two free days to relax by the coast and hang up the car keys or alternatively this area could keep you busy for weeks – boat trips, cycling, Monkey Land, Elephant experiences, a walk with a cheetah, golf, hiking, kayaking, SUP boarding and more. Ask us what we would recommend based on what you like.

Day 12: Plettenberg to the Eastern Cape
Today you will drive the final 3 hr section of the Garden Route to the Eastern Cape, heading to Shamwari Game Reserve where you will spend your final 2 nights at Bayethe Lodge. Bayethe is a beautifully designed safari lodge located within the malaria-free Shamwari Game Reserve, in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. With just twelve luxurious tents shrouded by rich vegetation, Bayethe is a luxurious safari retreat. In addition to morning and evening game drives, Bayethe offers a wide array of activities. There’s a spa on site overlooking the river and optional walks as well as visits to the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries, The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre or Ian Player Rhino Awareness Centre. Day 13: Big Five Eastern Cape Safari
A full days to enjoy tracking game on morning and afternoon Big Five safari drives in Shamwari Game Reserve. You will be woken early to head out on safari for approx. 3 hours and head out again after brunch, a spot of relaxing by the pool and a freshly baked high tea. The animals prefer the cool of the morning or late afternoon. Within Amakhala’s 18,000 acres you are likely to encounter lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, monkeys, tortoise and plenty of antelope species.
Day 14: Shamwari to the UK
After a final morning game drive and breakfast you will drive approx. 1 hr to Port Elizabeth Airport, drop your hire car and fly back to the UK (via Johannesburg).
Day 15: Home
