Day 1: UK to Windhoek
Fly overnight from the UK to Windhoek (via Johannesburg)
Day 2: Windhoek
On arrival into Windhoek you will collect your hire car and start your holiday overlooking the centre at the elegant Olive Grove Guest House where you will have 1 night to relax or head out to explore Windhoek city centre.
Day 3: Windhoek to Namib Desert
Today you will drive into the Namib desert. Heading south watching the landscape changing around you. At the foot of the Sossusvlei dunes, blending into the desert landscape, you will find Kulala Desert lodge where you will spend 2 nights in your own thatched canvas bungalow with private deck. In the main guest area is a large cosy lounge with an open fireplace for colder months, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a bar all surrounded by a wraparound veranda. Day 4: Namib Desert
A full day at leisure to discover the Namib desert. You can choose to add on a guided day or night drive or hike where you will be taken out with a knowledgeable guide to discover this vast untamed land and the wildlife that lives within it – tonight try your private sleep out deck under the stars. Day 5: Namib Desert to Swakopmund
Wake up early this morning to go see the sunrise over the dunes at Sossuvlei, climb Dune 45 and Big daddy before heading to the scorched tree’s at Deadvlei. After, continue onto Swakopmund, en route you could choose to stop for lunch at Walvis Bay and enjoy their freshly caught seafood. On arrival to Swakopmund you will be staying for 2 nights at The Strand located on the peninsula with the beach nearby, boasting the best sea views in the centre of the town.
Day 6: Swakopmund
You could simply relax and enjoy some time on the beach today. Or optional activities can be arranged to be included in your stay. From scenic flights over the Desert or Atlantic to a cultural tour of Swakopmund where your guide will explain the history of the town, the local dress and finishing with a tasting of traditional food and drink.
Day 7: Swakopmund to Damaraland
This morning you will travel along the Skeleton Coast before heading inland to Damaraland where mountainous desert meets rugged dusty red and rocky landscapes. Disguised amongst huge granite boulders are the luxury domed rooms of Camp Kipwe where you will stay for 2 nights – tonight head to the hilltop bar for fantastic views across the vistas.
Day 8: Damaraland
Have today at leisure. Head out in an open air vehicle in search of the rare desert elephant or take in the beauty of the surrounding area on a guided nature walk. You may also wish to visit Twyfelfontein to see the Ancient Rock Engravings with the stop off to marvel at the Organ Pipes and see this incredible natural landscape formation. Day 9: Damaraland to Etosha
Today you will drive 4 hours into the South West of Etosha where you will be staying on top of one of the hills surrounding the Ondundozonanandana Mountain at Ongava Lodge. Beautifully blended into the surroundings the canvas bungalows perched on stilts all with private balconies overlooking the plains below. This afternoon head into Ongava Game Reserve in search of both White and Black Rhinos. Want more time at Ongava or interested in a different safari option – contact us for your own personalised plan.
Day 10: Etosha to Etosha National Park
This morning you will drive across to the East side of Etosha, en route keep an eye out for grazing wildlife, to Onguma – The Fort where you will be staying for the next 2 nights. Onguma – The Fort designed in the style of a Moraccan castle is a stunning and unique lodge. The elegantly designed rooms all lead out onto their own private wooden decking all with provide sunloungers, perfect for these evening sundowners! This afternoon head out on a self-drive safari or simply settle into this remarkable setting and enjoy as the wildlife passes by the Forts private waterhole.
Day 11: Etosha National Park
Have today at leisure. The Fort offers games drives, early morning bush walks, sunset drives and a water level hide perfect for viewing game from. This evening enjoy a sundowner on your private deck listening to wildlife coming out as the temperature cools.
Day 12: Etosha National Park to Okonjima Game Reserve
Today drive 3 ½ hours south to Okonjima home to the Africat foundation where you will spend 2 nights at Okonjima Bush Camp. Have the afternoon to relax. This evening why not add on a Guided Night Drive of the Okonjima Nature Reserve – this is the time the bigger carnivores usually hunt!
Day 13: Okonjima Game Reserve
A full day at leisure. Africat foundation was set up as education, research, and rehabilitation programme for carnivores, head to the Africat Carnivore Care and Information centre to find out more about this amazing project. You could also choose to add on game drives tracking leopards, Spotted or Brown Hyena tracking and many more activities…
Day 14: Okonjima Game Reserve to UK
After a final morning in this incredible game reserve you will then drive back to Windhoek where you will return your hire car and head to the airport to check in for your flight back to the UK.
