DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Johannesburg
Fly overnight from the UK to Johannesburg.

Day 2: Johannesburg to the Drakensberg Mountains
On arrival you will collect your hire car and drive 4 hours north to the mighty Drakensberg Mountains where you will spend 2 nights at the Mountusi Mountain Lodge, an owner-run mountain retreat with spectacular scenery.

Day 3: Drakensberg Mountains
Free day to explore this stunning region or enjoy a romantic picnic on the reserve. Montusi offer free guided hikes or if you are keen for serious hiking the soaring mountains of the Drakensberg are only a short drive away. Ask us which hikes would be most suitable for you or for other options to explore this region.

Day 4: Drakensberg Mountains to the Battlefields
Today you will drive 3 hours into the heart of the Anglo-Zulu Battlefields to spend 3 nights at the Fugitives Drift Guest House, owner run by the Rattray family the house is stooped in history and overlooks the battlefield of Isandlwana. “Stay 3 pay 2” Special

Days 5 & 6: The Battlefields
Two full days to soak up the history of the fascinating region. No visit is complete without the renowned battlefield tours to the Anglo-Zulu War battle sites in the region, and Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift are a must!

Day 7: The Battlefields to Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park
Following breakfast you will drive approx 4 hours east to the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park where you will enjoy a 4 night safari at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge. Offering great views over the reserve, Rhino Ridge is the only safari lodge in a private concession border the park so this guarantees an exclusive safari experience and excellent big game viewing. “Stay 4 pay 3” Special

Days 8, 9 & 10: Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park
Two full days of Big 5 safari. The main activity is ranger led game drives within the private concession and Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park but the lodge can also arrange excursions to the Isimangaliso Wetland Park and St Lucia. See our wildlife guide.

Day 11: Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park to the Elephant Coast
Following a morning game drive and breakfast you will drive 2 hours to the remote Elephant Coast to end your KZN adventure with 4 nights at Thonga Beach Lodge. Definitely a firm Sundowner favourite, Thonga is a stunning remote beach with great conservation values and a fantastic variety of nature activities both on land and in the ocean. “Stay 4 pay 3” Special

Days 12, 13 & 14: Elephant Coast
Three full days to enjoy this stunning untouched part of South Africa. Activities at Thonga Beach Lodge include snorkelling, scuba diving, bird watching, guided walks, turtle tracking (in season), fishing, cultural excursions and kayaking sundowners on Lake Sibaya. Ask us when is best to visit for diving or turtle tracking.

Day 15: Elephant Coast to UK (via Johannesburg)
Enjoying a final breakfast with those beautiful ocean views you will drive south 3 hours to Richard’s Bay Airport, drop your hire car and check-in for your flight back to the UK (via Johannesburg).
