Kiota Camp offers an authentic bush camp experience in the heart of the Serengeti. With only a strip of canvas to separate the wildlife from your hugely comfortable bed, the sounds of the bush will lull you to sleep each night. In the morning, wake-up with a coffee, over-looking a zebra herd and then head off on a game drive that starts immediately. The staff clearly love it out here and nothing is too much trouble. Hot water bottles, cold towels, camp fires and bush tv. Hot showers to order and beautifully prepared hearty food. This is low-key luxury at its best.

With three decades of Tanzanian tourism experience between them, it’s no wonder that Hezron and Stacy have managed to create such a perfect safari haven. Like Chaka, their team at Kiota Camp are extremely welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and their happy nature is infectious.

Permanently located in central Serengeti, Kiota is a year round camp that is perfectly positioned for wildlife viewing and capturing the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Seronera Valley and nearby areas. The Central Serengeti is famous for its healthy populations of large cats, permanent game around the Seronera River, and the Rettima Hippo Pool.

Kiota, meaning ‘nest’ in Swahili, is designed to be a comfortable home away from home in the middle of the Serengeti bush. Kiota comprises just ten large en-suite tents with simple and stylish interiors with splashes of vibrant colours and patterns. Room fabrics are handwoven African designs, and the camp’s furniture was commissioned and crafted by artisans in Arusha, Tanzania. Each tent is en-suite with safari style bucket showers.

The food at Kiota is outstanding with a varied and delicious selection of food at each meal made from Hezron and Stacy’s organically grown herbs, fruits and vegetables. It’s amazing what the team can cook up in the bush! And all meals and water are included. With a campfire each night and bush TV on tap, there really is nothing better than to sit in a comfortable chair, glass of wine in hand looking out across the vastness of the Serengeti and watch animals pass right by the camp.
