A huge Sundowner favourite, Garonga and Little Garonga get everything right. Located in the Makalali Game Reserve, the camp is a perfect size for service that goes the extra mile and to allow you to relax peacefully between safaris, as well as ensure plenty of memorable safari moments. In fact, Garonga encourages you to indulge in activities that allow you to enhance your wildlife encounters and get close to the bush around you! Head out on games drives twice a day with guides who are experienced and knowledgeable, and keep an eye out for the Big 5! As well as game drives, there are wilderness walks. And if you fancy a bath under the stars, book the secluded Bush Bath. Or there’s the Sleep-Out Deck – just the two of you, the sounds of the bush and the stars above you. High in a tree in a four poster bed. This is how Garonga creates memories that will last a lifetime.

Garonga Safari Camp has 6 en-suite Tents. All tents include a wooden deck with hammock, indoor & outdoor showers (which we love) and sit overlooking a dry riverbed. Don’t be fooled by the word ‘tent’, these rooms are spacious, holding draped beds and with all the luxury of a 5 star hotel.

As well as looking for as many of the Big 5 as you can on your game drives, you should also keep an eye out for colourful birdlife and diverse plains animals. Stretch your legs on a walking safari with an experienced guide – get closer to the nature of the area around you with this different take on a safari. Cool off in the pool after a day spent in the African sun, head to the Massage Sala for a spa treatment to relax and unwind with the African bush surrounding you, or enjoy a Bush Bath with the stars above you and the wilderness surrounding you. You can also spend a night under the stars with a stay on the sleep out deck. 

Little Garonga has 3 Suites that can be reserved together for a group or separately for a private safari experience. Little Garonga is separate from Garonga and has its own pool and safari vehicles. The Chiltern and Buckingham Suites include a wooden deck with hammock, indoor & outdoor showers, a covered lounge area overlooking the bushveld. The Hambleden Suite is a two bedroom suite that includes a raised deck with seating, a private swimming pool,  indoor & outdoor showers and a lounge area.

The food at Garonga is outstanding. Every meal is an delicious experience. From dinner around the campfire in the boma, to private dining on the pool deck, to bush picnics.
