Day 1: London to Livingstone
Fly overnight from the UK to Lusaka (via Johannesburg).
Day 2: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
On arrival into Livingstone, the Zambian side of the mighty Victoria Falls, you will transfer up river to the secluded Waterberry Lodge where you will start your family adventure with 3 nights in a family chalet. With their tag “close to Vic Falls but far away from everything”, Waterberry is a firm Sundowner favourite offering a relaxed family friendly atmosphere on the banks of the Upper Zambezi .
Days 3 & 4: Victoria Falls
Two full days to visit one of the most incredible waterfalls in the world and enjoy the many of the activities of the region – elephant back safaris, helicopter flights, gorge swings, flying foxes, white water rafting, bungee and more. Your stay at Waterberry also includes 1 in-house activity and you can choose from a visit to the Falls, daytime or sunset cruise, fishing, island picnics, guided birding, guided village walks and a guided tour of Livingstone town & markets. Day 5: Victoria Falls to South Luangwa
This morning you will transfer back to Livingstone Airport and fly across the country to the South Luangwa National Park, one of the game viewing hotspots of Africa. On arrival you will be met and transferred into the park to spend 3 nights in a family chalet at Mfuwe Lodge, a super award winning property that receives a huge amount of repeat guests including a herd of elephants which has featured in many documentaries as it makes its annual journey through the reception of the lodge!
Days 6 & 7: South Luangwa
Full day of game viewing in the densely populated central Mfuwe region. This really is one of the safari highlights of Africa and you will able to enjoy expertly led safaris on 4×4 game drives through the park and night drives back to camp. During the heat of the day there is also a very inviting pool overlooking the lagoon so you may get lucky and spot some wildlife whilst you take a dip!
Day 8: South Luangwa to Lake Malawi
Following a final morning game drive and breakfast you will bid farewell to Zambia and fly across the border to Malawi, heading to Lilongwe where you will met and transferred to the shores of Lake Malawi. You will end your family adventure with 7 nights at Cape Maclear, staying in interconnecting rooms at the family friendly Danforth Lodge. Owner run by a lovely couple called Michelle and Howard, this rustic beach lodge offers a seriously laid back friendly atmosphere, heaps of activities for all the family, a cracking beach and beautiful views over Lake Malawi – we love Danforth! ** Charter Yacht Mufasa – if you are keen to set off on a yacht charter adventure around Lake Malawi then Yacht Mufasa is a 4 double bedroom live aboard catamaran which comes with a 3 person crew and can be booked for a minimum of 2 nights. Days 9 to 14: Lake Malawi
Six full days of play and relaxation on the shores of Lake Malawi. The lovely owners Michelle and Howard will really make sure you looked after and activities include hobie cat sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, waterskiing, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, guided nature walks, birding and sailing on the Yacht Mufasa. Day 15: Lake Malawi to London
This morning you will transfer back to Lilongwe Airport to catch your International flight back to the UK (via Johannesburg).
Day 16: London
Welcome Home (that’s a hard one to beat!!)
This Zambia family holiday idea costs from £15,730 per family (based a family of 4 with children aged 5 -11 years) and includes – International flights (price based on London), all internal flights, all accommodation on a sharing basis (as outlined above), 3 nights full-board with drinks & 1 activity per day in Vic Falls, 3 nights full-board with lodge activities at Mfuwe Lodge, 7 nights full-board with non motorised water-sports at Danforth, park fees and all transfers.
