Day 1: UK to Vientiane
Fly overnight from the UK to Vientiane, via Bangkok. Want to add in some time in Bangkok? Contact us to include a few nights in the Thai capital city before you head over to Laos.
Day 2: Vientiane
On arrival in to Vientiane airport, you will be transferred approx. 20 mins to spend 2 nights at the Green Park Boutique Hotel. Featuring classic Laos architecture, this hotel is in a fantastic location, with all the major tourist sites being within walking distance. You can spend the rest of the day resting by the pool, or head out and start exploring under your own steam. Welcome to Laos!
Day 3: Vientiane
A busy day awaits as you head out and explore what this charming city has to offer! This morning you will be collected for a Guided Half Day Tour of Vientiane – visit the Wat Sisaket and Wat Phra Kaew Temples before heading over to the Presidential Palace which reflects the recent history of Laos. Your tour continues to the Patuxay Monument – make sure you head to the top to enjoy the spectacular views! Head back to the hotel to relax this afternoon, before you head out in the evening to explore some of the best food in Vientiane. Enjoy a sundowner as you watch the sun set over the Mekong River before you head to Ban Anou night market – the city’s culinary hub. This is a wonderful chance to see local life up front, and enjoy some delicious Laos street food. Once your tummy is full, head back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep. Day 4: Vientiane to Vang Vieng
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning, before you are met and transferred approx. 1 1/2 hrs north to Riverside Boutique Resort in Vang Vieng, where you will spend the next 3 nights. This award winning, luxury hotel, is full of charm and its beautiful design blends local traditions with French colonial architecture. Settle in this afternoon – your room will have a balcony which is the perfect place to sit and relax after your journey!
Day 5: Vang Vieng
Today you’ll explore the natural beauty of Laos, as you are collected for your half-day guided Vang Vieng tour. Cross the Nam Song River and head into the countryside, travel through rice paddies and arrive at Tham Pou Kham, a cave located 100 metres underground. Wander around the cave, or enjoy a swim in the waterhole. Then, head back to the Nam Song River and board a longtail boat to enjoy a relaxing cruise with stunning scenery – marvel at tall, limestone cliffs, vast green jungle, and local fishing boats as they pass you by.
Day 6: Vang Vieng
You have a full day at leisure to explore and enjoy this beautiful area! If you’re feeling active, then there are a few hikes you can head out on, or if you’re feeling adventurous then trek up to the Nam Xay Viewpoint for stunning views across the landscape. You could stay on ground level, and head into town to check out the market stalls and pick up a souvenir or two, or head to the blue lagoon with a picnic and swim in the turquoise water.
Day 7: Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang
Your journey north continues today as you are collected after breakfast and transferred approx. 5 hrs to Luang Prabang. You will then spend the next 3 nights in Maison Dalabua – a charming boutique property that is surrounded by three UNESCO classified lily ponds. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in this serene location!
Day 8: Luang Prabang
This morning you will be collected for a Half Day Cycling tour of Luang Prabang! Start with a visit to the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre before you cycle on to the former Royal Palace, which is now home to the National Museum. Then, it’s back on the bikes a short distance to Wat Mai Temple. Carry on to Wat Visoun before you cycle through the quiet side streets of Luang Prabang to see local life up close. The cycling tour will end at Wat Xieng Thong – the city’s most revered temple that is covered in ornate carvings and mosaics. You will then have the rest of the day to relax and rest by the pool. Think the cycle route will be too long? Talk to us about shortening the length, or swapping it with another type of tour.
Day 9: Luang Prabang
This morning you will be collected for your Kuang Si Waterfalls Full Day Tour. Head out of the city and journey through Luang Prabang’s beautiful countryside as you make your way to the Waterfalls. The stunning falls are a series of cascading turquoise pools – enjoy a swim, or hike to the top of the highest drop. This is a highlight of any Laos trip, and a special picnic lunch will be prepared so you can enjoy local dishes with a spectacular view! You could also visit the Asiatic Black Bear sanctuary located just before the falls, which is free for you to walk through!
Day 10: Luang Prabang to Champasak
This morning you will be collected and transferred approx. 15 mins to the airport to check in your short domestic flight to Pakse. On arrival you will then be transferred approx. 30 mins to La Folie Lodge by road and boat, where you will spend your final 3 nights. La Folie Lodge is a charming lodge, and every room comes with its own private terrace that boasts a panoramic view of the Mekong River and the mountains of Champasak. Spend the rest of the day soaking up the spectacular views!
Days 11 & 12: Champasak
You will have two full days at leisure! There is plenty to do in this stunning area from boat trips to cycling and hiking, or arranging a trip to visit the incredible 4,000 Islands. Or, if you just want some down time away from the hotel, there is a large sand beach exposed in the Mekong River, which is the perfect spot for sunbathing! Or you may prefer to end your holiday on the beaches of Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia – ask us to tailor this holiday to you. Call 01273 923100.
Day 13: Champasak to the UK
Today you will transfer back to Pakse airport to check in for your journey home to the UK. Want to stop in Pakse and hike to the Golden Buddha? Talk to us about adding in a stop before you go home.
