Day 1: UK to Siem Reap
Fly overnight from the UK to Siem Reap
Day 2: Siem Reap
On arrival you will be taken into Siem Reap where you will spend 2 nights at Sakmut Boutique, a new boutique hotel that’s just a short distance from the city centre. You will have the rest of your day at leisure to explore Siem Reap – head to pub street for some great places to eat and to try some authentic Cambodian street food! Want to enjoy an evening street food tour with a local foodie? Give us a call to see what else we can arrange for you!
Day 3: Siem Reap
Today you will be collected for your full day tour of Siem Reap and the Angkor Wat Temple Complex. You’ll start by heading to the fascinating ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire. You’ll visit the Bayon Temple and the wonderfully overgrown Ta Prohm, also known as ‘Tomb Raider Temple’. In the late afternoon, you will head for the highlight, the magnificent Angkor Wat. This evening, you will have the chance to enjoy a performance of ‘Phare: The Cambodian Circus’ – a combination of acrobatics, dance and other skills. Want to spend longer in Siem Reap? We can tailor any holiday to you, so get in touch to start planning.
Day 4: Siem Reap to Battambang
Today you will be transferred to Battambang, where you will be spending 2 nights at Maisons Wat Kor Resort, a small boutique hotel in a great location just outside of the city.
Day 5: Battambang
Start the day with a cycling tour as you head into the countryside of Battambang – pass through rural communities and interact with the villagers as you see how items like rice paper, grolan (sticky rice steamed in bamboo), and prahoc (fish paste) are made. You will also have the chance to visit Wat Ek Phnom Temple and an abandoned Pepsi factory. In the afternoon you will head out to Phnom Sampeau, where from the small temple on the top, you will have a fantastic view over the typical landscape of paddy fields and sugar palm trees. Phnom Sampeau is home to the notorious killing caves, which are cruel reminders of Cambodia’s troubled past. Your visit will last until dusk – a time when millions of bats emerge from a cave and create patterns as they fly in tandem across the sky – a spectacular nightly show of nature!
Day 6: Battambang to Phnom Penh
This morning you will head out for a ride on the Bamboo Train. The “train” itself is very basic, one bamboo platform on 4-wheels which is activated by a small motor. Sitting on the platform, you will travel the 8km to the next station through beautiful landscape and rice paddies. You will then depart Battambang for Phnom Penh, stopping in Kampong Chhnang, known for its traditional pottery on route to take a look at the production in this area. In Phnom Penh, you will be staying at Villa Langka for 2 nights, a small hotel located within walking distance of the Independence Monument and markets.
Day 7: Phnom Penh
Today you will then enjoy a private tour of the city, visiting the royal palace, national museum and the sobering Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Housed in a former school, it was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as a torture centre named ‘S-21’. A moving, but important visit that allows you to understand Cambodia better.
Day 8: Phnom Penh to Cardamom National Park
Today you will be privately transferred to Trapeang Rung in the Cardamom National Park. Freshen up in Trapeang Rung before embarking for the hour’s trip over the Preak Tachan River to Cardamom Tented Camp, where you will be staying for the next 3 nights. Wander through trees to where the lodge is set in a natural clearing, a sanctuary from the interruptions of modern life where you can discover more about Cambodia’s nature and wildlife. Head out for an afternoon hike in the surrounding jungle!
Days 9 & 10: Cardamom National Park
Two days filled with activities exploring the Cardamom National Park. Enjoy hiking trails, bird spotting, kayaking along the river, working with local rangers and more.
Day 11: Cardamom Nation Park to Koh Rong
Today you will transfer back to Trapeang Rung where you will meet with your driver and be transferred to Sihanoukville. In Sihanoukville, you will be transferred by boat to the island of Koh Rong, where you will be staying at Sok San Beach Resort for 4 nights, set behind an idyllic white sand beach, this simple yet comfortable accommodation is the perfect end to any holiday. Want to extend your time on the beach? Get in touch to start planning your holiday now!
Days 12-14: Koh Rong
Three full days to spend relaxing on the beach and enjoying the hotel facilities!
