DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to  San Jose 
Fly from the UK to San Jose.
On arrival into San Jose you will be met and privately transferred to Hotel Presidente to spend 1 night. This characterful hotel is located at the heart of San Jose just walking distance from the iconic landmarks, bars and restaurant. Enjoy the rest of your day soaking up the atmosphere and exploring this exciting city. Welcome to Costa Rica!

Day 2: San Jose to Sarapiqui
This morning you will be collected for your shared transfers to Sarapiqui where you will spend 2 nights at Selva Verde. Selva Verde Lodge boasts an amazing 500 acres of critical rainforest reserve, the river lodge’s bungalows rise above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms, affording unique views of the surrounding vegetation from your private veranda. Day 3: Sarapiqui
Today is filled full of adventure and fun. You’ll be collected for a full day white water rafting tour on Rio Sarapiqui, offering 18 miles of rafting across rapids surrounded by some of the most breath-taking scenery. You will also stop for a gentle hike to waterfalls and perhaps spot some wildlife. By the end of the day you will know this area like a Tico! Rafting not for you? Day 4: Sarapiqui to Arenal 
This morning you will be met and collected for your shared transfer to Arenal area. Famous for its mighty active Arenal volcano, this area has much more to offer. Plenty of well guided hikes and activities to keep you busy for weeks. You will spend 3 nights at Brisas Arenal, an owner-run hotel set on the edge of Parque Nacional Volcan Arenal in 3 hectares of primary and secondary rainforest. With fantastic views of the volcano from each of the 13 rooms, this is a perfect spot to enjoy Arenal.

Day 5: Arenal Volcano
Today you’ll join a group canyoning adventure. You’ll test your adrenaline thresholds as you set off to conquer a sequence of waterfall rapels, zip-line, a rock climb and more. This is fun tour with great guides, spectacular views and beautiful trails throughout – popular with children (age 5 and above) as well as adults. Day 6: Arenal
Today you have a full day at leisure to explore this vast and extraordinary place. Whether you fancy more adventure and fun or just a slow-paced day, there is plenty on offer to keep you busy. You can kayak on Arenal lake that offers great views and wildlife spotting or perhaps we can arrange horse-riding trip to La Fortuna waterfalls, 70 meters high with a natural pool, perfect for an afternoon dip. For the wildlife lovers we can arrange a visit to Cano Negro wildlife refuge where you might spot sloths, monkeys, caimans and more; or perhaps a rainforest night walk. Day 7: Arenal to Monteverde
This morning you’ll wave goodbye to Arenal and join your shared transfer to the cloud forest at Monteverde, where you will spend 3 nights at Los Pinos. Owner-run Los Pinos is set amongst its own reserve with cabins perfectly spaced to allow you privacy. Los Pinos have been working hard to conserve and reforest their reserve which in turn boosts wildlife. Day 8: Monteverde
This morning you will head up to the highest point of the mountain by Sky Tram for views across the surrounding forest. You will then start your Sky Trek adrenaline adventure through the treetops across a system of zip wires – try to take in the views as you skim across the tops of the trees! You will also head on the Sky Walk – an impressive series of bridges and paths at great height ensuring spectacular views of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Several bridges take you right alongside the canopy of tall trees, some of which have colonized the bridges, draping their woody lianas over the ramparts. Bring binoculars, as this is your chance to spot birds and howler monkeys on a level to you.

Day 9: Monteverde
Today you will head on a group half day Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve Tour. Hike through the well-marked-trails, waterfalls, rivers, and the observation area of the park. You will also see an amazing variety of flora and fauna on this tour. Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is among the most famous reserves in the world for its biodiversity, conservation, contributions, and scientific research.

Day 10: Monteverde to Punta Islita
This morning you’ll be collected for your private transfer to the Nicoya Peninsula Coast. You will spend 3 nights at Punta Islita stunningly situated amid tropical gardens high above a long secluded beach on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Punta Islita is an laid-back boutique resort offering the perfect beach escape. And with 300 acres to explore, it also offers a number of different activities from zip-lining to horse-riding or you could swing in your hammock and just listen out for monkeys! Days 11 & 12: Punta Islita
Two full days at leisure to relax or play by the sea or explore the reserve! Swing in your hammock and listen to the surf, and take a quick dip in the infinity pool before breakfast. Or head down to the beach and enjoy the waves. Included in your stay are four free activities per person per day including visits to the local village, horse-riding though the forest or along the black volcanic sand beach, heading on a monkey safari, zip-lining through the forest canopy, guided sunrise walks through the forest, yoga, bird-watching hikes, painting, cookery and more. Day 13: Punta Islita to the UK
Following a final breakfast, you will be transferred back to San Jose where you will check in for your flight back to the UK
