Situated in a private concession of the Ngamo Plains, on the edge of the remote and unspoilt south eastern corner of Hwange National Park, lies Bomani Tented Lodge. Renowned for its unique scenery and large herds of elephants, Bomani offers an authentic and luxurious safari experience. Embark on morning and afternoon game drives before you spend your evenings sat out on the viewing deck with a sundowner in hand. After the sun sets, gather around the fire pit and share stories of the day’s wildlife sightings. Cool off with a dip in the splash pool, or enjoy a treatment from the pop-up spa – the beauty therapists are members of the local community who have been trained up to provide guests with authentic Zimbabwean treatments. Enhance your time at Bomani with activities like pump runs, community experiences, seasonal canoeing, and you could even enjoy a visit to a rhino sanctuary – Bomani is part of Imvelo Safari Lodges who have successfully managed to reintroduce white rhino to Hwange National Park. You can reach Bomani Tented Lodge in a couple of ways – directly by road, or via a small plane charter. From the moment you arrive, there will be plenty of chances to spot wildlife – from around the lodge itself, but also out on twice daily game drives in remote portions of Hwange National Park. For other wildlife experiences, you could join a fully licensed guide on a morning walking safari (every walk provides fascinating insights into Hwange’s circle of life), head out on a night drive to seek out some of the less-seen nocturnal animals of the area, or for a truly unique experience, you must go to the ‘Look Up Hide’ – a modified shipping container that provides incredible, close up photography opportunities. 

Join in with a ‘Pump Run’ – Hwange National Park has no major rivers, and so wildlife in the area lives off water that is pumped by solar power during the dry season. On a ‘Pump Run’ you can help maintain the waterholes and pumps which the wildlife relies on, as well as having the opportunity to spot some of this wildlife in remote areas of the park. You will also have the chance to deliver supplies and meet the attendants who live at the waterholes and maintain the pumps. 

Visit a nearby village to experience firsthand the daily lives of the local people, take part in volunteering and give back to the community, or ride the Elephant Express – a unique railcar that not only transports you places, but also provides guests with more great game viewing! Keep an eye out for lions on the tracks!

Bomani has 11 tented accommodations, and 1 thatched bungalow, and all either overlook the watering hole or the Ngamo Plain. There is a family suite with a veranda deck and it can sleep up to 6 people (please note that children should be over the age of 7 to stay at Bomani – due to vehicle requirements for game drives, children under the age of 7 are only allowed by special arrangement and it is at the discretion of lodge management). All rooms have an overhead or standing fan to keep you cool at night, and ensuite facilities.   

The main lodge is a thatch building with an open front and a viewing deck that overlooks the waterhole – perfect if you want to continue looking out for wildlife once you are back from your game drives. Wi-Fi can be accessed in this main lodge, and it features a communal splash pool. If you want to share stories with other guests, either sit by the fire, or if it’s cool out, sink into one of the lounge chairs in the main area of the lodge.
