Day 1: UK to Bangkok
Fly overnight from the UK to Bangkok.
Day 2: Bangkok
On arrival into Bangkok today, you will be met and transferred approx. 30 mins into the city, where you will spend your first 3 nights at The Salil Riverside Hotel. Set alongside the majestic Chao Phraya River, The Salil is ideal for couples and/or families. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the city under your own steam, or settle in by the pool. Welcome to Thailand!
Day 3: Bangkok
Early this morning you will be collected for a guided tour of the Grand Palace and Wat Po! Marvel at the golden stupas and colourful mosaics at the Grand Palace and visit Wat Phra Kaew, the most famous building within the palace, regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. You will then continue to Wat Po, home to a large reclining Buddha. After, you will have lunch before you enjoy a longtail boat tour on the Thonburi Klongs Canals. Observe local life as you cruise past and admire the city’s skyline – you’ll soon see why Bangkok is often called the ‘Venice of the East’! Your tour will end with a visit to Wat Arun temple, before you head back to your hotel to rest. Want to see less temples? Talk to us about different tours you could go on.
Day 4: Bangkok
Today you will be taken to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market for a half day tour – watch as locals and tourists shop from stalls lining the river. You could pick something up for yourself as you go! This afternoon you will enjoy some down time at the hotel, before you are collected this evening to enjoy a street food tour by tuk tuk! Taste a variety of local dishes, enjoy the smells from all types of food stalls, and watch as the market comes to life.
Day 5: Bangkok to Hill Tribe, Chiang Mai
Early this morning, you will be met and transferred approx. 30 mins to Bangkok airport, where you will catch a short domestic flight to Chiang Mai. On arrival, you will be transferred approx. 1 hr to the rural area surrounding Chiang Mai where you will spend 3 nights at Lisu Lodge. Amidst rice fields, Lisu Lodge is a community-based project that aims to conserve the natural heritage of hill tribes in Chiang Mai. Enjoy your new rural surroundings as you settle in this afternoon – you can visit the local temple (or vegetable plantation if you saw enough temples in Bangkok), or hire a bike so you can explore the area on two wheels.
Day 6: Rural Chiang Mai
Today you will be met for a Hill Tribe Experience. Start from the Ton Luang temple to view the herbal garden and observe village life as you stroll through alleys of the local village. This is an authentic experience, and will show you the traditional side of life. Want to rearrange the itinerary to include alternative stops? Let us know if you have a different route in mind!
Day 7: Rural Chiang Mai
An early start awaits today as you head out on a Light Trek at Pong Ngan and try Bamboo Rafting. The trek is of medium difficulty that takes you through the village of Pong Ngan and after stopping for some lunch, you will begin your Bamboo Rafting downriver. This is a fun way to enjoy the local scenery – keep your eyes out for possible wildlife viewings!
Day 8: Rural Chiang Mai to Chiang Mai
This morning you will be collected and transferred approx. 1 hr into Chiang Mai to the Puripunn Hideaway for 3 nights. This luxury boutique hotel offers understated comfort and is located close to all of the highlights of the town. Enjoy a drink by the pool this afternoon, or head out and explore – the hotel offers free tuk-tuk rides to Ping River, some of the town’s markets and Thapae gate, which is the main entrance to the old city.
Day 9: Chiang Mai
An exciting day with elephants awaits! You will be collected early this morning and driven to the Elephant Sanctuary where you will learn some more about the elephants before you get the chance to feed them! After enjoying some lunch, you will meet up with the elephants again to brush them, before you give them a mud bath – don’t be afraid to get stuck in and muddy!
Day 10: Chiang Mai
You will be collected this morning for a boat tour along the Ping River! Your tour starts when you board a longtail boat for a half-hour cruise – relax as the scenery passes you by and admire the wooden houses perched on the riverbanks. You will disembark and visit a Thai Famer’s House to enjoy fresh juice, before heading to a food market and then cruise through the streets of Chiang Mai as you arrive at Wat Phra Singh. Want to slow down the pace? Talk to us about adding in another night in Chiang Mai.
Day 11: Chiang Mai to Krabi
Relax by the pool this morning, before you are collected and transferred approx. 15 mins to Chiang Mai airport, where you will board your domestic flight to Krabi. On arrival in to Krabi airport, you will be met and transferred approx. 30 mins by road to Laem Kruat Pier where you will then board your boat over to Koh Jum Beach Villas, to spend the last 7 nights of your Thai adventure. This exclusive retreat is near secluded beaches and is perfect for anyone who is looking to lose themselves and switch off from it all. Welcome to paradise! Want less beach time and more exploring? Let us know and we will tailor this holiday to you.
Days 12-17: Krabi
You will have 6 days to relax and unwind! Your hotel offers paddle boards, kayaks and bicycles that you can hire, or if you want to learn how to make some Thai dishes to impress people at home, you can join a cooking class. You could explore the Phi Phi National Park which consists of small islands, fine sandy beaches, and towering limestone cliffs which all form spectacular scenery. Grab a snorkel – the waters are full of spectacular marine life and coral which will make for a great afternoon of sea life spotting! Or simply lay out on pristine sand and make the most of the stunning beaches. Call us on 01273 923100 if you want to spend less time in Krabi and head to Phuket for a couple of nights.
