DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Kilimanjaro
Fly overnight from the UK to Kilimanjaro (via Nairobi).

Day 2: Kilimanjaro to Lake Manyara
On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide and private 4×4 vehicle and you will head straight to Lake Manyara National Park for a day of game viewing with a picnic lunch. This beautiful park boasts a huge amount of wildlife and is also a key area for elephants, giraffes, buffalo and of course flocks of flamingos in season. Later this afternoon you will exit the park and climb the Rift Valley to the Ngorongoro Highlands where you will spend 2 nights at the Plantation Lodge, a beautiful owner-run safari retreat with stunning gardens, bags of character and a lovely pool for cooling off after a dusty game drive!

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
Early this morning you will drive over the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater for a day of exciting Big 5 game viewing with a picnic lunch. This incredible sunken caldera is one of the most breath-taking safari locations on the planet and resident to a huge concentration of wildlife which includes black rhino and large lion prides. After an incredible day you will return to Plantation Lodge for a dip in the pool and a well-earned Sundowner.

Day 4: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
This morning you will head back up to the crater rim to enjoy the spectacular views as you drive around the crater and down onto the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park to spend 1 night in the southern region of the park at Olduvai Camp. Run by the local Maasai this permanent tented camp offers an excellent cultural experience as well as stunning views and great walking opportunities – don’t miss the Sundowner hike with the Maasai!

Day 5: Serengeti National Park
Heading deeper into the National Park you will game drive to one of the prime wildebeest migration regions to spend 2 nights at Chaka Camp, an authentic, independently owned safari camp which moves three times during the year to the prime game viewing areas of the park. After a day packed with wildlife you will enjoy a night round the campfire enjoying the wild of the Serengeti!

Day 6: Serengeti National Park
Full day of game viewing in the Serengeti National Park with your guide and private 4×4 vehicle. One of the most incredible game viewing regions in Africa the Serengeti National Park has a huge concentration of resident wildlife and enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra pass through the park on the annual migration – a predators paradise! Day 7: Serengeti National Park to Zanzibar
Following a final morning game drive and breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the stunning island of Zanzibar, heading to the capital Stone Town, to spend 1 night at Mashariki Palace. This traditional town house has been lovingly restored and offers stylish accommodation in 18 characterful rooms – we particularly love the sea view terrace which is amazing for Sundowners and the cosy “Table for One” restaurant.

Day 8: Stone Town to east coast
After a free morning to wander the narrow ancient streets of Stone Town you will be collected and transferred to the south east coast to end your honeymoon with 7 nights at the Anna of Zanzibar, an intimate owner run beach retreat with only 5 suites, a stunning stretch of secluded beach and excellent service from the owner Michael and his team. “Stay 7 pay 5” Special.

Days 9 to 14: Zanzibar east coast
Six full days to relax and enjoy this secluded part of the island. The order of day is definitely relaxation and guests can enjoy the lovely Anna’s Spa but keen divers won’t be disappointed as the lodge is partnered with the Rising Sun Dive Centre, a 5 star PADI operation offering excellent diving. Selous Riverside was the perfect balance I was looking for – basic and far from anywhere but there was hot showers and cold beer at the end of the day. We loved how we had the same safari guide and the same waiter for the duration of the stay, we really felt at home and still pine for David! We did an early morning walking safari, a riverboat safari and 2 full day safaris which were awesome. As a special treat we were taken far away to some hot springs for a swim…absolutely idyllic.

Our holiday was truly amazing. The itinerary was superb. Lake Manze was an experience that we’ll never forget. Having elephants eating their lunch feet from where we sat our veranda was an unbelievable sight. On our final night at Manze lions were prowling around the tents which was pretty frightening but awesome. Unguja was off the scale – Ralph and particular Elies were superb hosts and the location activities and accommodation were second to none. The trip of a lifetime and a fitting way to mark 25 years of marriage!
