DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to  San Jose 
Fly from the UK to San Jose.
On arrival into San Jose you will be transferred to the Hotel Presidente to spend 1 night in the city. This characterful hotel is located at the heart of San Jose just walking distance from the iconic landmarks, bars and restaurant. Enjoy your evening soaking up the atmosphere and exploring this exciting city.

Day 2: San Jose to Arenal Volcano
This morning you will leave San Jose behind and start your journey by being transferred approx. 3 hours to Arenal Volcano region where you will be staying for 3 nights at Arenal Manoa & Hot Springs hotel. This hotel is all about the location and incredible views of the mighty Arenal Volcano. Sit down on your balcony and relax while watching the active volcano or explore the surrounding area for wildlife. Maybe you’ll spot your first hummingbird! Want to add in a trip to Tortuguero? Days 3: Arenal Volcano
This morning you will join a shared Half Day tour of the Arenal Volcano and the Hot Springs. Enjoy the extraordinary view of Arenal during your gentle hike through the forest and the old lava flows, followed by a visit to the volcanic thermal mineral pools at the Hot Springs. Make sure you bring a swimsuit to have a healthy and relaxing dip in the volcanic thermal pools. Later, you’ll enjoy your dinner in the area before heading back to your hotel.

Day 4: Arenal Volcano
Today you set off for a shared Half Day Natural History and Hanging Bridges walk. Explore this incredible biodiverse area with a naturalist guide who will show you the fascinating and colourful tropical rainforest and waterfalls. The views of the volcano from the hanging bridges over the forest make for one unforgettable experience. You will then have a free afternoon and evening to do with as you wish. Day 5: Arenal to Monteverde
This morning you will be collected for your shared transfer and lake crossing to Monteverde Cloudforest where you will spend 2 nights at Cloud Forest Lodge. This charming and friendly eco lodge is surrounded by stunning natural cloud forest and mountain vistas offering exceptional customer service. Enjoy a Sundowner on the balcony this evening while soaking up the amazing views of the Cloud Forest and Gulf of Nicoya.

Day 6: Monteverde Cloud Forest
You will start your day today with a Half day tour of the Moteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. Your guide will take you on a gentle hike through well marked trails, waterfalls, rivers and you will also stop at the observation area, if you are lucky you might spot a “Quetzal” – one of the most beautiful birds in the world. In this incredible biodiverse forest, you will find hundreds of species of mammals, birds, replies, plants and more – have your camera ready!! Day 7: Monteverde to Tamarindo
This morning you will wave good bye to lush cloud forest and join your shared transferrers to the Pacific Coast where you will end your Costa Rican adventure. You will spend 3 nights at the charming, owner-run Hotel Capitan Suizo. Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, you are in the perfect location to relax and recharge after your adventure so far.

Days 8 & 9: Tamarindo
Two full days at leisure at Hotel Capitan Suizo to soak up the sun, hit the beach, and explore your beautiful surroundings under your own steam. Your hotel offers some great activities to keep you entertained such as surfing, kayaking, table tennis and much more. Want more time at the beach – ask us to tailor this holiday to you.

Days 10: San Jose to UK
Today you will be transferred to San Jose Airport to fly overnight back to the UK.

Day 11: Home
