DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Cape Town
Fly overnight from the UK to Cape Town.

Day 2: Cape Town
On arrival into Cape Town you will collect your family hire car and drive directly to the V&A Waterfront to start your holiday with 4 nights at the Cape Grace in 2 Luxury Rooms (interconnecting). Possibly the best 5 star hotel in the city, very elegant, very child friendly and we love the fact it’s a larger hotel with 120 rooms but the service is so good it feels like a 10 room boutique hotel. 4 Night Long Stay Special

Days 3 & 4: Cape Town
Two full days to explore this incredible city. The Cape Grace offers a complimentary chauffeur service up to a 10km radius but further afield you can head to the Cape Peninsula, Simon’s Town and Boulders Beach for some penguin spotting.

Day 5: Cape Town to the Whale Coast
Driving 2hrs south to the Whale Coast you will spend the next 2 nights in a 2 Bedroom Luxury Suite at the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. With sweeping views of pristine Walker Bay this luxurious coastal retreat offers lots of fantastic activities to ensure all the family are immersed in one of the richest biologically diverse marine ecosystems on the planet.

Day 6: The Whale Coast
Full day to enjoy the many activities at Grootbos, these include horse-riding through the reserve, guided nature walks, marine & coastal drives with seasonal land based whale watching, bird-watching and self guided hikes.

Day 7: The Whale Coast to the Garden Route
After breakfast you will get on the road for the longest drive of the trip, heading east approx 5 hours to the heart of the Garden Route where you will spend 3 nights at the Hunters Country House in a 2 bedroom family suite.

Days 8 & 9: The Garden Route
Two full days in the heart of the Garden Route. There is so much to do in this area but some of our family favourites include Elephant Encounters, Monkeyland, Tenikwa Wild Cat Sanctuary and snorkelling with seals in Plettenberg Bay!

Day 10: The Garden Route to Shamwari Game Reserve
After a final sumptuous breakfast at Hunters you will drive 3.5 hours along the final stretch of the Garden Route to the Big 5 game reserves of the Eastern Cape, heading to the multi award winning Shamwari Game Reserve where you will stay 3 nights at Riverdene Family Lodge in 2 interconnecting luxury rooms.

With a dedicated “Kids on Safari” programme this 5 star lodge allows all the family to enjoy this first class Big 5 reserve.

Days 11 & 12: Safari in Shamwari Game Reserve
Two full days of exciting Big 5 safari. Children 4 years and older can enjoy game drives and the special kids programme includes visits to the Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Centre and Shamwari Animal Rehabilitation Centre.

Day 13: Port Elizabeth to the UK (via Johannesburg)
After a final morning game drive and breakfast you will drive 1 hour to Port Elizabeth Airport, drop your hire car and check-in for the flight back to London (via Johannesburg).
