La Cusinga Lodge is nestled within a private nature reserve encompassing over 250 acres of lush tropical rainforest, providing guests with an immersive experience in Costa Rica’s biodiversity. Head out on the hiking trails through the forest to get close to nature, spot the Cusinga, a neat looking toucan bird that nests here, and take a dip in waterfalls. Paths wind through dense primary forest leading to the expansive, nearly deserted Playa Arco (visit at low tide) and a secluded natural swimming pond.

In addition to the hundreds of acres of privately owned primary and secondary forest to explore, the ecolodge borders the Ballena National Park – one of two nationally protected marine zones in the whole of Costa Rica. Most clients include a whale watching trip (when visiting in season) and there are also kayaking and snorkeling tours that can be arranged. 

There is a spa onsite where you can relax with a massage, or beauty treatment, and fully unwind after a day of exploring the stunning local area. The yoga studio has a unique view of the Ballena Marine National Park – the combination of the stunning natural views and sounds of nature provide the perfect place for relaxation and meditation. With this much beauty in front of your eyes, there will be several ‘pinch me’ moments!

La Cusinga has 10 Cabins ranging from rustic cabins to eco-luxury villas, all built with sustainably-harvested wood and designed to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings while providing comfort and tranquility.
