DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Dar es Salaam
Fly overnight from the UK to Dar es Salaam (via Doha).

Day 2: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve
On arrival this morning you will be met and assisted onto your light aircraft flight to the Selous Game Reserve where you will spend 3 nights on safari at Lake Manze Camp, a back to basics African bush camp which is all about the amazing wildlife, great guiding and wild surroundings – the camp tends to a get few visitors wandering through camp!

Days 3 – 4: Selous Game Reserve
Two full days on safari in the Selous, a reserve packed with the Big 5 and particularly good for elephants, hippo, lion and if you’re lucky the African wild dog! From Lake Manze Camp you can enjoy expertly guided 4×4 game drives, walking safaris, boat safaris on Lake Manze and even a spot of fishing.

Day 5: Selous Game Reserve to Ruaha National Park
Following a morning safari and breakfast you will be transferred back to your bush airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Ruaha National Park where you will continue your safari with 3 nights at Mdonya Old River Camp.

The sister camp to Lake Manze, Mdonya is one of our favourite bushcamps in Africa offering a truly wild safari experience where it doesn’t get better than sitting round the campfire listen to the roaring lions!

Day 6 – 7: Ruaha National Park
Two full days of safari in Ruaha National Park. The main activity is 4×4 game drives with your expert guide searching out the incredible wildlife of Ruaha, this can either be a full day safari with picnic lunch or morning & afternoon safaris where you return to camp for lunch – both options definitely include a fantastic Sundowner in the bush!

Days 8: Ruaha National Park to Mafia Island
Following a last morning game drive and breakfast in the bush you will fly by light aircraft to Mafia Island, an undiscovered gem south of Zanzibar which is surrounded by reefs teeming with marine life.

On arrival you will transferred to the east coast to spend 6 nights at Pole Pole, a beautiful little eco beach lodge with all the ingredients of a Sundowner favourite – great location, lovely staff, excellent food and a fantastic beach.

Day 9 to 13: Mafia Island
Five full days to explore and relax on Mafia Island. With an incredible marine national park running the length of the island the snorkelling and scuba diving is a huge highlight but you can also enjoy island hopping in the Mafia Archipelago, dhow cruises, island walks, tours to Kilindoni the capital of the Island and even a hippo tour!

If you are lucky enough to visit Mafia between October and March this is also one of the best spots in the world to dive with Whale Sharks.

Day 14: Mafia Island to London
After a final morning swim in the ocean you will transfer back to Mafia Airport for your light aircraft flight back to Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will connect with your International flight to the UK (via Doha).

Day 15: London
Welcome home….(it could take a few days to get back into the normal routine!)
